of us to share what God was doing in our lives, sing a few songs, and have a time in the word. Our leaders started talk of branching the House Church. Some of the group had been through the process before, but still it is hard thinking that you would not be sitting next to someone in the near future during house church. Each of us began to wonder where we would go and who would be in our House Church. Just before Christmas that same year, the leaders brought the branching plan before the Garber House Church. I assumed that I would be branched into the same house church as my brother, but God had other plans. The leaders said that instead of the group branching into two groups we would be branching into three groups. WOW -- that meant even smaller groups then we were imagining. One by one individuals and families were being told which group they were going to be a part of. Everyone had been assigned a group but me, and now the leaders were picking who was going to |
be co-leading their groups. Matt Garber turned to me said Jason will be co-leading with me. I was shocked, horrified, honored, and a swarm of other emotions. We had 8 adults plus the Garber children, and at least one other Adult male who surely could fill the shoes of co-leader far better than I, but again God knew better. At our first meeting as a House Church, there were only 5 adults instead of the 8 we were supposed to have. It turned out that one family decided to move on from our House Church to fellowship with friends at another Church. Two other single people would come and go from our fellowship for the better part of another year. That meant of the original 8 people in our House Church we had 4 that regularly attended. We decided that since we were such a small group that I would cook for us on Thursday nights, and our fellowship time would begin over dinner. Occasionally, I would still feel a nudge from the Holy Spirit asking me what I thought about Katie, |
